Welcome, autumn! Adorable kitten curled up sleeping with a beautiful white dog on a blanket, with fall leaves scattered around. Subtitle reads: Snuggle season is here.
Another fall has arrived with a COVID backdrop. We remain thankful for your continued understanding and patience with us, as we try to balance caring for our patients and keeping our staff and clients safe and healthy.

Much of the veterinary industry is currently challenged with more patients, increased visits, and staffing shortages. If you've experienced a wait on the phone or in scheduling an appointment, this is likely the reason. But we remain committed to your pet's health and well-being, and to supporting your precious relationship with your best pet friend.

We're ready for fall, so we've shared some information and tips below to help you and your pet enjoy a happy and healthy autumn together. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have questions or concerns about your pet - we're here for you both!

Sincerely,
Your friends at Greenwich Animal Hospital

Text: What a Pain! Pets Hiding Discomfort

Hiding signs of pain is a key survival tool for animals. This means it can be really difficult for pet owners to recognize when our pets are in pain, from arthritis to dental disease to an acute injury.

Man in raincoat and red hard hat holding Jack Russell Terrier. Text: Preparing for Disasters
You’ve probably considered what to do in case you’re faced with a natural disaster, and even a possible evacuation from your home. Maybe you’ve even taken preparedness steps, kudos! But does your disaster preparedness plan include your pets?

Fluffy and Fido may seem pretty wily at times (like when they conjure up Vegas-headliner-magician disappearing tricks just prior to a veterinary appointment), but they're domestic animals who depend on us humans, and would not fare well at all on their own in a natural disaster. And the last thing you want to do as a disaster approaches is scramble around looking for leashes, medications, carriers, and paperwork! So take a few minutes to review your disaster plan and make sure your pet family members are covered, too.

Text: The Cat's Meow and You
How’s this for fascinating and adorable? Meowing beyond kittenhood is believed to be a language designed for interacting with humans. This means your meowing adult feline friend is doing it in order to communicate with you – whether they’re hungry, or bored, uncomfortable, or simply feeling affectionate and looking to dole out some sweet head bonks.

Your pet’s body is a symphony of communication, just waiting to be seen and decoded. Tail wags, perked ears, play bows, bared teeth, crouching, kneading paws – your pet has a LOT to say and many different ways to express it! Taking the time to understand you furry friend’s body language will make life easier for both of you and deepen your bond.
