Dear Brittmoore Animal Hospital Friends,

Your pet deserves the finest veterinary care and it takes everyone on our team to make that happen. The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) recognized that fact and created National Veterinary Technician Week, an annual event recognizing veterinary technicians for their contributions in pet healthcare, as well as veterinarians, assistants, client service representatives, practice managers and others involved in pet care. This year National Veterinary Technician Week takes place Oct. 11 - Oct. 17.

As a member of the veterinary healthcare team, veterinary technicians are educated in the latest medical advances and skilled at working alongside veterinarians to give pets the best medical care possible. They work closely with the veterinarians, veterinary assistants, practice managers, front desk staff, and owners to provide essential care to all species of animals; pets with fur, feathers, scales or skin.

Veterinary technicians help care for your pet by performing a wide range of vital functions such as phlebotomy, laboratory and other diagnostic work, anesthetic administration and monitoring, dental treatment, surgical assistance, radiology, client education, and, of course, patient nursing care. They fill so many vital roles so adeptly that they might at times seem like magicians!

We're always grateful for our technicians' contributions, but this year even more than usual. In the wake of COVID-19, our technicians have had to rapidly adjust to new protocols along with the rest of us, and have honed their already stellar communication skills, often acting as the communication coordinator between our veterinarians and you, our clients, as we navigate new patient visit methods like curbside service. And all of this while continuing to care for our patients with the utmost skill and compassion!    Photo of very happy cute black and white mixed breed dog strapped into car with a seat belt, grinning at camera.

We hope our clients and friends will take a moment to consider and appreciate our awesome technicians and entire support staff this National Veterinary Technician Week for their dedication to our patients and clients.

As always, we thank you very much for trusting us with your pet's care!
